We offer the largest selection of used bikes for sale in Oxford, with stocks changing regularly.

Buying a used or pre-loved bike is a great choice for so many reasons – not only does it make cycling more affordable and accessible, but it’s also a positive way to support sustainability.

Why Should I Buy a Used Bike?

It is often more affordable than buying new, allowing you to get a better model or brand within your budget. Buying used is a more sustainable choice, helping to reduce waste and extend the life cycle of a perfectly functional bike.

Where Do Used Bikes Come From?

We can guarantee the origin of all used bikes we sell. Firstly, we don’t buy used bikes from the public, instead we work with organisations such as Oxford City Council, Oxford Brookes University and Great Western Railway to remove abandoned bikes and recycle them. Not only does this help the environment by reducing land fitll, but it also ensures cycle parking is freely available for Oxford cyclists.

Each organisation operates the removal of the Oxford abandoned bikes slightly differently, but the concept is the same.

Bikes are tagged – bikes deemed unfit to ride or that have not moved from the same location in a long time get tagged.
Tagged bikes revisited – after 2 – 4 months, tagged bikes are revisited and if they are still taking up space in the cycle parking, they are removed.
Bikes stored – bikes are stored for around 3 months in a depot.
Bikes collected – bikes are collected by us and taken to one of our storage locations for further storage (normally 1 to 2 months).

Sadly, we cannot recycle all of Oxford’s used bikes but we can normally refurbish around 40% of the complete bikes (albeit changing worn out parts). Irreparable bikes are stripped for parts and used to help with training apprentice mechanics. The metal is collected and recycled, so nothing goes to waste.

Does A Used Bike Have A Warranty?

All of our used bikes have been fully serviced and are sold with a 3-month no nonsense warranty. This means if something goes wrong with the mechanics of the bike in the first 3 months of you buying it, we will repair the bike free of charge. We don’t cover accidental damage – but we can book damaged bikes in for repair in our workshop at a competitive price.
